THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT

Philippians 4:8 states,

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

What do you find yourself pondering about throughout your day? Is it about food? What you’re going to do when you get off? What clever thing you can say in an argument with someone else? We really underestimate the power of a thought.

Look at the magnitude and marvel of the things that man has created. Consider the innovative advances in technology. All of these things started with a simple thought. Someone had to firstly think it. Then design in. Then test it. And finally sell it. It’s a wonderful and powerful process to see an idea move from the intangible to the tangible!!

In the Kingdom, we are challenged in the area of what we think about. Our efforts should be focused more on thinking about those things that will advance the Kingdom here on earth. Now, this can be a challenge as we physically live in this world and are always subject to its concerns and worries. But consider Romans 12:2 that states, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

This change of thinking will only occur when we embrace the Word. So I challenge you and myself as well. Let’s make an effort to spend more time thinking of good, honorable things and ways we can advance the Kingdom here on Earth.

What I want the most is for this to not be about me. But rather the focus be placed on Jesus Christ; the author and finisher of our faith. I am just a vessel willing to be used by him and for him.
