KINGDOM FIT (FIT FOR A KING)

My notes from my Pastor’s sermon today.

Sunday 8/27/17

Speaker: Pastor RW Barrion

Title: Kingdom Fit (Fit For A King)

Scripture: Proverbs 31:10-31; Romans 12:1-2

Points:

  1. Conceiving a King
  2. The Search
  3. The Prize

Notes:

The author of this passage is believed to be King Solomon who was the son of King David and Bathsheba. This is important because the circumstances by which Solomon was conceived are vital. Bathsheba was the wife of a very indiscreet man. David forced her into marriage after having her husband killed in battle! Yet, she was still able to operate under her Kingdom mandate. She was able to provide her son with very valuable information concerning life and kingship. Again, let us consider the fact that her son was born out of an adulterous relationship forced upon her. But she was a KINGDOM WOMAN.

Bathsheba produced a leader in Solomon. Ladies, with every child, particularly males, the mindset you have should be committed to raise him to be a leader. Same with your baby girls. This is ordained and prescribed by the Word of God. Ladies, you have a maternal duty to impart the Word into your children. Praying for them is not enough. Bathsheba invested time in explaining to her son the types of things he should do and the things he should avoid. Bathsheba even portrayed her husband and her son’s father David as a king in the eyes of her son in spite of David’s indiscretions. Now please understand that David did not “get away with” his indiscretions. He paid a severe price for what he did with Bathsheba. Still, Bathsheba remained the textbook definition of a virtuous woman in the midst of all the turmoil. The text in Proverbs is asking us, “who can find such a woman?”. This indicates that such a woman is hard to find and is not easily available. A woman is not born virtuous. She like any human is born in sin and shaped by iniquity. She is made virtuous ONLY by the impartation of the Word into her life by someone. This “someone” could be a mother, father, or parental figure. But this figure has to be one that is governed by the Word and modeled that governance in his or her life.

Ladies, your value is not determined by superficial qualities. It is not determined by your looks, your status, your intellect, or your money. Society and the world says you must be sexually appealing to be considered beautiful, desired, and accepted. Instead, your value is governed and determined by what the Word says. Likewise, a woman of this caliber will only be appealing to a man who is governed by the Kingdom and is looking for her. She will not have to look for him. And she will not attract anything less than that standard. In turn, a Kingdom man will make the effort in seeking her out. Ladies, your time spent being single should be used to build up yourself in the Word. And men, lets step up and do the same.

Finally ladies, when you can bring all that you have and subject it to Kingdom Order and subject it to your husband as being the head, it brings God glory. It also positions your husband to be esteemed in public as people will see him the way that you see him. It further positions you to be labeled a virtuous woman. A woman fit for a king. A woman poised and positioned to receive all the blessings from God!!

What I want the most is for this to not be about me. But rather the focus be placed on Jesus Christ; the author and finisher of our faith. I am just a vessel willing to be used by him and for him.
