We need to be the church. In being the church, it is a constant lifestyle change. Wherever we go, we are called to be the church. In the passage, Jesus is asking the disciples who do men say he is. By this time, Jesus had done many miracles and had begun to establish his ministry. Likewise with us. We should consider who do people think that we are. The church should not be like the world. We cannot be like the world and impact the world. Who is the church? Are we a vehicle of change? Are we impacting the culture? The church used to be a place of refuge where people could come and be saved. It used to be a place of help. Now it has, in some cases, become just a hangout spot.

We are in the world but we are not of this world. The church should not be described and compared to worldly things. There are those that sit in church but really do not understand what church really is. It’s more than just a gathering of people on Sunday or Saturday. We have to know who we are and the power that lies with us to change our environment. We cannot get caught up in the hype and emotions that come with church. Those things are not bad but church is much more and much deeper than that. The church needs to know that we are the embodiment of Jesus Christ and we seek to be like Him.

It is this fundamental foundation that God wants to use to build up his church. He is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. When we acknowledge that Jesus is the son of God, the church becomes powerful. Otherwise we are powerless and are efforts are in vain. Make a decision every single day to be the church. Will you be the church?
